Dave Price is a SUP enthusiast and instructor so includes the chapters of information you might expect on technique, equipment, and extensions of the sport such as SUP games, SUP yoga, white-water SUP-ing, SUP holidays. Perhaps because the basic idea of stand-up-paddleboarding is so simple (Squirrel Nutkin got there even before CS Lewis’s Dufflepuds) it challenges human ingenuity to devise complications. Fortunately Price is also a conservation volunteer. His chapters on wildlife are sensitively written and he’s aware of the access issues on non-tidal waters and the needs of some other river users, though not, it seems, yachtsmen. (Please don’t play paddleboard tag in the fairway!)  An attractive, companionable guide to a sport that’s on its way to becoming a lifestyle.
