Snape Maltings are fascinating former industrial buildings on the River Alde in Suffolk part of which is converted to Benjamin Britten’s Concert Hall. This book follows the history of Snape Maltings from mid nineteenth century up to the present use as a major tourist centre. The barge traffic to the Maltings are carefully recorded and also a voyage through the history of the River Alde from Slaughden to Snape Maltings Quay.
