Nicolette Milnes Walker set herself to sail non-stop and alone across the Atlantic because she could see no reason not to. This was in 1971 when she was aged 28. No woman had done this before and she had never sailed a yacht on her own. Nicolette was working as an industrial psychologist assessing people’s reactions in high pressure situations.
