The Sailor’s Checklist

This small, tough, book is French in origin. Occasionally this is less than helpful – as in its advice to contact CCMM in Toulouse for medical support. Thinking positively however, a degree of unfamiliarity can be stimulating. Ask yourself who would you contact? What medical checklist do you keep ready to hand? When I didn’t see 999 listed as the UK emergency number it forced me to look more closely at the Europe-wide scope of 112. The Safetics approach is modelled on aviation practice and the advice to read each page aloud – even to oneself – is certainly good. A skipper’s duty of care is universal and this volume offers a detailed overview in a compact format.
