Chris and Sandra Constance, living in the English Lake District, wanted to spend more time with their daughter in New Zealand. A yacht as their base seemed a good idea and they found one for sale in Sint Maarten. They bought it (untried) and flew to the Caribbean with a 11,000 voyage in prospect. Neither had sailed before. Nevertheless, a background in the army, climbing and diving adventure gave the right attitudes to learn a new skill.

As a reader, I wasn’t initially sure I would cope with Chris’s sense of humour all the way across the Caribbean, the Panama Canal and the Pacific, but I came to enjoy his style and insights and feel great respect for their joint achievement.
