This is a new pilot guide covering Lyme Regis to Lands End.  It seems surprising that this is the first to be published for this popular sailing area. Perhaps Mark Fishwick’s well-established West Country Cruising Companion (9th edition Fernhurst 2021) has been felt sufficient? Pilot guides get you to your destination, cruising companions do the same but also discuss what you might find on arrival. On the east coast of England we have both. Here, on the west, Paul Heiney’s West Country shore guide (Adlard Coles 2025) has recently been added to the choices available.

G.Macintosh’s book does not include the Isles of Scilly but is produced to Imray’s usual high standards with essential pilotage instructions and helpful photography.

Well worth considering.
