The Pacific Crossing Guide
(4th edition)
Francis Hawkins

£60.00
Francis Hawkins has spent much of his sailing life exploring the Pacific – and there is so much to explore: twice the size of the Atlantic, 20,000 islands, an area greater than all earth’s land masses combined. ‘It takes a village’ to begin to do justice to such a subject, as he says. He has benefitted particularly from the input of fellow cruisers who are ‘a little nerdy about information’ and this is evident in the updating of the communications section. Hawkings also offers prolific signposting to other sources.
Almost half the book is devoted to preparation, the rest to itineraries and passage-planning, from mainland Chille to the Aleutians and Alaska.
An impressive achievement.
