Sara Hopkinson opens with a premise which may no longer be true: that we navigate the motorways using maps and signs. Or do we just switch on Google and type a postcode in? The ease with which we hand over responsibility to electronic systems so much cleverer than ourselves makes entry level books like this more -- not less -- important. The information is presented in standard RYA-style but the pacing is good; not too much at a time but enough to keep the reader interested and looking ahead for more. She is also good at identifying and explaining common mistakes – why won’t the buoy you are aiming for be straight ahead of you?
A useful book from an experienced instructor.
