I may be the wrong person to review the CA Almanac as I consider it indispensable. In the age of electronic applications, including the CA’s own CAptain’s Mate, perhaps I should ask myself why? It’s a substantial volume covering UK and Ireland, NW Europe from Bergen to Gibraltar. A team of 19 people are named as this year’s editors. Their brief biographies suggest they are the sort of sailors who will tell me the sort of information I need to know. There’s also the wider, collective input of CA members.

The essence of the Almanac’s appeal is its clear presentation and the everything-under- one-roof approach for the mainstream cruising sailor in a defined area.
