This account of an eight-year circumnavigation starts slow, giving the impression that it’s just another account of two people saving up, leaving their jobs and setting out to explore the world by sea. What makes this Dutch couple’s experience stand out is the thoroughness with which they planned their voyage. Researching weather data as well as destinations for years in advance enables them to achieve a far wider range of ‘Must See’ destinations than is usual. These include the Canadian West Coast, Australian South Coast, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Namibia and four great capes sailing east to west.

Their successful journalism opens more opportunities but I wished the book publishing budget has allowed for more photos.

Their final chapter contains wise advice.
