Golden Duck in association with German publisher Kontrabande

When I Put Out To Sea by Nicolette Milnes Walker marks the first Golden Duck title to be translated into German, thanks to our new association with German publisher Kontrabande.

In 1971, aged just 28, Nicolette Milnes Walker became the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean alone non-stop, simply because she could see no reason not to. Before embarking on her voyage, Nicolette was working as an industrial psychologist assessing people’s reactions in high-pressure situations. Now it was time to test herself. Despite having never sailed a yacht on her own before, she set off from Wales in a nine-metre vessel and for forty-four days made her crossing towards Newport, Rhode Island.

Als ich auf das Meer hinausfuhr - Nicolette Milnes Walker

First published in 1972, When I Put Out To Sea has remained popular with readers in English. More than 50 years on, Golden Duck’s partnership with Kontrabande brings Nicolette Milnes Walker’s remarkable story to a German readership for the first time.

You can buy When I Put Out To Sea from all good bookshops, or online through our website. It is also available from Amazon in hardback, paperback and Kindle edition.
