New book: Anglo-Saxon Inspirations by Claudia Myatt

A 20 page A4 colouring book which will appeal to the full range of ages and creative / historical involvement. You can stay between the lines choosing your colours and watching the shapes come to life — or you can develop the shapes and concepts until they become your own. If you can hold a pencil, you can use this book. If you can’t - then give it to a friend and enjoy the decorative results.

This is what Claudia says as an introduction:

“Humans love patterns - we always have and I think we always will. Every culture and time in history has its own signature style. The treasures found in the Sutton Hoo ship burial in Suffolk as well as other sites in Kent, Essex and Norfolk, revealed that 6th—7th century Anglo-Saxons had an extraordinary level of craftsmanship, using gemstones and precious metals from as far away as India to create complex pieces of jewellery, buckles, brooches and other decoration.

The designs they created with such breath-taking skill are beautiful to draw, to colour and use as inspiration. There are designs here to colour and also step by step instructions to get you started on creating your own patterns.”
